Bio
Hello Warriors! My name is Kayla Burns. I am excited about being the Dyslexia and Reading Interventionist for the upper elementary grades. This is my sixth year teaching at Ingram Elementary School. I have taught every grade from first to eighth grade, excluding second. I enjoy teaching the older elementary students because the kids are developing their own unique personalities. This is my thirty-fifth year teaching, so I have been blessed to be in education for a while. I am a West Texas girl from Abilene, Texas. I graduated from McMurry University in 1989 with a BS in Education and a specialization in Reading.
My husband and I moved to the Hill Country in 2001 with our two children at the time. Now they are grown adults living their own dreams. I have taught at Tally Elementary and Harper Jr. High and now proud to be an Ingram Brave. I am so excited to have the opportunity to teach your child and help them to reach their potential. My goal is to do my best to ignite a spark in your child to enjoy books and a love of reading.
"Reading should not be presented to children as a chore, or a duty. It should be offered as a gift." - Katy DiCamillo
